The Portion and Inheritance of Christ

Psalm 16:5 Jehovah is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup; You maintain my lot.

Luke 24:44  And He said to them, These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all the things written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and Psalms concerning Me must be fulfilled.

Psalm 2:8  Ask of Me, And I will give the nations as Your inheritance And the limits of the earth as Your possession.

Hebrews 1:2  Has at the last of these days spoken to us in the Son, whom He appointed Heir of all things, through whom also He made the universe;

Everything written in the old testament was written concerning Christ including the Psalms.  Psalms 2 and 16 both speak of Christ in particular ways.  As a man on the earth He took God as his portion.  The portion of his inheritance and of his cup.  A portion is for possession and a cup is for enjoyment!  What a portion!  What portion is better than God himself?  Furthermore in Psalm 2  again speaking of Christ,  will inherit all the nations and the limits of the earth will be his possession for God’s kingdom.  Christ will inherit Russia, India, Israel, Europe, South America, North America, Africa, Canada, Australia, China and All the nations !!!! The limits of the earth will be in his possession for his kingdom!  This is why Hebrews tells us that he is the Heir of all things.  Wow.  Christ is awesome.  What a Christ have we!

Repentance is for the Kingdom

Matthew 3:2 And saying, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to proclaim and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

The New Testament begins with a call to repentance starting with John the Baptist and continuing with the Lord Jesus Christ himself.  Repent for the kingdom of the heavens.  To repent is to have a change, a turn in mind.  This is have a turn in purpose.  A turn for the kingdom of the heavens!  Previously we were for ourselves, the world, our career, family etc.  But repentance causes us to have a turn for the kingdom!  This is why Matthew 6:33 points out to “seek FIRST the kingdom”.  This sets the precedence for the entire New Testament as a whole.  That God’s purpose is to have the kingdom of the heavens.

The Wonderful Person of Christ

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14  And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us (and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only Begotten from the Father), full of grace and reality.

Hebrews 2:14  Since therefore the children have shared in blood and flesh, He also Himself in like manner partook of the same, that through death He might destroy him who has the might of death, that is, the devil,

The Wonderful Person of Christ is that he is  both God and man!  Do you believe that such a person exists?  He does, whether you believe or not.   God has many names to describe himself and in the gospel of John he is called the Word of God.   He is called the Word because he expresses God, defines God and explains God.  He is God himself manifested to us.  This Word became flesh and dwelt among us!  He actually lived among us.  He partook of blood and flesh and shared the human nature.  He already possessed the Divine life and nature.  Once he became incarnated he became a person with two natures, the divine and the human!  What a mystery!

Every believer has been called into the one fellowship

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that every one who believes into Him would not perish, but would have eternal life.

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Many people say that have been called to do this or to do that.  Maybe so.  But how many realize that they have been called into the fellowship of Son, Jesus Christ?  This is to partake of the union with God’s Son, to participate in him, to enjoy him!  John 3:16 is a very popular verse these days.  God gave his only begotten Son that through believing into Him we would have eternal life.  And this life brings us into fellowship with Him, and this life is the fellowship!

The Kingdom of God

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip, who announced the gospel of the kingdom of God and of the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit!  This is the good news.  Do you like good news?  I do!  The good news is the Kingdom of God.

The Word of the Truth, The Gospel of Our Salvation

1 Peter 1:24 For “all flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass has withered, and the flower has fallen off,

25 But the word of the Lord abides forever.” And this is the word which has been announced to you as the gospel.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation, in Him also believing, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of the promise,

Are you impressed with the word of God?  I am!  The word is called the word of the Lord that abides (or remains) forever and the word of the truth.  This is the word that has been announced by the apostles and has become the gospel of our salvation.  When people hear the word of the “truth” which conveys the divine reality of God, Christ to us, it becomes the gospel.

Regenerated With The Incorruptible Seed

1 Peter 1:23  Having been regenerated not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible, through the living and abiding word of God.

1 John 3:9 Everyone who has been begotten of God does not practice sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been begotten of God.

1 Peter says that we have been regenerated not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible seed.  We were regenerated the moment we believed into Christ at the time of our conversion through the living and abiding word of God.  At such time we were “regenerated” (John 3:3, 5).  That is we were born again, with another life.  And that life is the eternal life of God!  What a mystery it is that human beings can be regenerated!  And it is by this incorruptible seed that we have been regenerated.  What is this seed?  This seed is the eternal life of God, the divine life.  1 John 3:9 says that we who have been begotten of God have his seed abiding within us.  And this seed is the divine, eternal life because we have been begotten of God!  We have the divine seed within us!

All Scripture is the Breathing out of God

2 Timothy 3:14 But you, continue in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from which ones you have learned them

15 And that from a babe you have known the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

17 That the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.

This was written to Timothy a faithful co-worker of the Apostle Paul during the church’s decline.  The “sacred writings” refers to the Old testament and “All Scripture” refers the whole bible including the New Testament.   Then he says that All Scripture is God-breathed, or is the breathing out of God.  God’s exhale.  The Scriptures are not just the black and white print they are the breathing out of God!  His breath, his breathing out is spirit (John 6:63)  The words that he speaks are spirit and life!  Enjoy the word!

The Word of God shall never pass away

My apologies for being absent the last few days.  I think you and I both have felt the lack of the word.  And speaking of words, mine are very few right now considering that I just had oral surgery and it hurts to talk.   At any rate, God still speaks!  His word abides forever.  On that note the following verses came up for your musing.  Enjoy!

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall by no means pass away.

Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, It is written, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out through the mouth of God.”

Jeremiah 15:16 Your words were found and I ate them, And Your word became to me The gladness and joy of my heart, For I am called by Your name, O Jehovah, God of hosts.
