Become like little Children

Matthew 18:1 In that hour the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Who then is greatest in the kingdom of the heavens?

2 And He called a little child to Him and stood him in their midst

3 And said, Truly I say to you, Unless you turn and become like little children, you shall by no means enter into the kingdom of the heavens.

4 He therefore who will humble himself like this little child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of the heavens.

Thank God for little children!  The Lord told us unless we turn and become like little children we shall by no means enter into the kingdom of the heavens.  Little children are humble, simple and not complicated.  They are not contemplating the meaning of the universe nor are they self conscious or anxious.  Their main concern is where is the food!  I’m hungry already!  They just eat, sleep and poop.  Life is simple.  We need to be simple  like little children.  We need to eat (enjoy) the Lord (John 6:57) and he will be our real rest (Psa. 23).

Special Edition: The Life of the Kingdom

Mark 4:26 And He said, So is the kingdom of God: as if a man cast seed on the earth,

27 And sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and lengthens — how, he does not know.

28 The earth bears fruit by itself: first a blade, then an ear, then full grain in the ear.

29 But when the fruit is ripe, immediately he sends forth the sickle, because the harvest has come.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?

5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

When we think of kingdom does life come to mind?  The traditional notion of  having a kingdom is like a man with a scepter making his subjects fall prostrate before him while he is fanned  by one of his servants and fed huge grapes.  But this is not the kingdom of God.  Rather when the people of Israel tried to take him by force and make him king he ran away from them (John 6:15).  The kingdom of God and is much different from what we suspect.   It is not an earthly kingdom and is definitely not like today’s hollywood movies portrays.  When we come to the gospel of John chapter 3 the kingdom is mentioned.  But what does it say?  does it mention a dictator?  Authoritarian?  Nope.  It mentions birth.  Actually birth is mentioned several times.  Nicodemus came to the Lord Jesus appreciating him as a teacher but the Lord responded in  this way:  “Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  Right away birth and kingdom are mentioned in the same sentence!  Then he says it again in verse five “Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  First the Lord says unless you are born anew you cannot see the kingdom of God.  Unless we are born of God and have the divine life we cannot see the divine things.  There is the animal kingdom.  a lot of things that the animals do we still don’t understand because we don’t have the animal life.  It is the life that enables us to enter into the kingdom.  When we hear kingdom we should think life.  For it is the life that is our entrance into the kingdom of God!  Birth is absolutely a matter of life.  WE WERE BORN INTO THE KINGDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We were born into the human kingdom and we see and understand the human realm.  It is no different with the kingdom of God.

How awesome is that?  God rules us not in an outward way but inward.  God rules us by way of the divine life that we have received!  Wonderful!

The Spirit of God and the Kingdom

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?

5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born anew.

Matthew 12:28 But if I, by the Spirit of God, cast out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

They’re are many men of this world who in their ambitions have aspired to have a kingdom over all the earth.  Only a few of them came close to their desires to have an earthly kingdom.  Men desire power, authority, money, possesions or material wealth.  However, the bible speaks of another kingdom.  And that is the kingdom of God! This kingdom is absolutely of the Spirit of God!  An immaterial kingdom that we are born into at the time of regeneration (John 3:3-7).  When we believed into Christ and were baptized we were  actually born of the Spirit and entered into the kingdom of God!  We were born into it!  Splendid!  When the Lord Jesus was casting out demons he did so by the Spirit of God.  When this happened the kingdom was there in power.
There is much to say concerning the kingdom of God.  Until the next time, enjoy the kingdom.

The Portion and Inheritance of Christ

Psalm 16:5 Jehovah is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup; You maintain my lot.

Luke 24:44  And He said to them, These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all the things written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and Psalms concerning Me must be fulfilled.

Psalm 2:8  Ask of Me, And I will give the nations as Your inheritance And the limits of the earth as Your possession.

Hebrews 1:2  Has at the last of these days spoken to us in the Son, whom He appointed Heir of all things, through whom also He made the universe;

Everything written in the old testament was written concerning Christ including the Psalms.  Psalms 2 and 16 both speak of Christ in particular ways.  As a man on the earth He took God as his portion.  The portion of his inheritance and of his cup.  A portion is for possession and a cup is for enjoyment!  What a portion!  What portion is better than God himself?  Furthermore in Psalm 2  again speaking of Christ,  will inherit all the nations and the limits of the earth will be his possession for God’s kingdom.  Christ will inherit Russia, India, Israel, Europe, South America, North America, Africa, Canada, Australia, China and All the nations !!!! The limits of the earth will be in his possession for his kingdom!  This is why Hebrews tells us that he is the Heir of all things.  Wow.  Christ is awesome.  What a Christ have we!

Repentance is for the Kingdom

Matthew 3:2 And saying, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to proclaim and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

The New Testament begins with a call to repentance starting with John the Baptist and continuing with the Lord Jesus Christ himself.  Repent for the kingdom of the heavens.  To repent is to have a change, a turn in mind.  This is have a turn in purpose.  A turn for the kingdom of the heavens!  Previously we were for ourselves, the world, our career, family etc.  But repentance causes us to have a turn for the kingdom!  This is why Matthew 6:33 points out to “seek FIRST the kingdom”.  This sets the precedence for the entire New Testament as a whole.  That God’s purpose is to have the kingdom of the heavens.

An Immaterial Kingdom

Matthew 12:28  But if I, by the Spirit of God, cast out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Romans 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

The Kingdom of God is not a material Kingdom but a spiritual one.  Wherever the Spirit is there is the kingdom.  Actually the Spirit is the reality of the kingdom.  Wow, we have this Spirit! We can be filled with this Spirit!
