Christ the End of the Law

Galatians 2:19  For I through law have died to law that I might live to God.

Romans 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to everyone who believes.

Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; For with the heart there is believing unto righteousness, and with the mouth there is confession unto salvation.

Thank God for his living word!  I was reading some verses today in Galatians chapter 2 and was very touched with verse 19 in particular.  Which says “For I through law have died to law that I might live to God”.  Paul, the author of the book of Galatians and half of the new testament was a devout jew prior to being a believer in Christ.  And according to jewish tradition was completely zealous for the law, that is the mosaic law (ten commandments) given through moses (John 1:17).  But after his conversion to Christ he testifies something quite mysterious in Galatians 2:19.  The law requires that sinners die according to God’s righteous requirement.  The penalty of sin was death.  So the apostle Paul says “I through law have died to law”.  But the good news is that we don’t have to die anymore because Christ already died for us on the cross!  He died a vicarious death taking upon him all of the sins of the world.  The death of Christ fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law! Please read Romans 8:3-4 for reference.  Therefore Paul says that Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to everyone who believes.  This means that our relationship to the law has been terminated and we are righteous before God by believing into Christ! He is the standard.  Its not a bunch of do’s and don’ts.  How awesome is that.  Although some might say, well, what about the law?  If we go out and kill someone are we still righteous?  Doesn’t the ten commandments say we shouldn’t  kill?  Well, my answer is first Matthew 5:17 where Christ says “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish, but to fulfill”.  Christ did not abolish the law, he fulfilled it when he died for us on the cross.  So Christ is the END of the law UNTO righteousness to everyone who believes.  Unto means resulting in.   This is a loaded topic so there’s more to come.  What good news!  Praise the Lord for Christ!

Do You have Sins?

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from every sin.

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, the faithful Witness, the Firstborn of the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and has released us from our sins by His blood

Do you have sins?  You’re a great candidate for cleansing!  The blood of Jesus, the Son of God cleanses us from every sin.  Good news huh? This is the gospel.  Revelation 1:5 tells us that He loves us and has released us from our sins by His blood.  We’re released!  Thank you Lord!

Blessed are those who wash their Robes

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have right to the tree of life and may enter by the gates into the city.

Revelation 7:14 And I said to him, My lord, you know. And he said to me, These are those who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

We keep our robes, our living clean, by the blood of the Lamb.  Confessing our sins to the Lord.  Praise the Lord for the Blood of the Lamb!  Stay tuned more to come tomorrow…

Our Crucifixion with Christ

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constrains us because we have judged this, that One died for all, therefore all died;

Christ not only died for our sins, but he also died for us, the sinners.  On one hand yes, he died to take away our sins.  These are likened to crimes that we have committed.  Yet on the other hand Christ died for us the persons, the criminals.  Both are awesome!  Thank you Lord!

Christ died for Her

1 Peter 2:24 Who Himself bore up our sins in His body on the tree, in order that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose bruise you were healed.

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

We have all heard of Christ being our savior, our redeemer.  We have all heard that he has died for our sins.  This is all correct of course according to the word of God.  Galatians 2:20 shows us that Christ, the Son of God gave himself up for us!  But it doesn’t say us.  It says “me”.  Specifically “me”.  On the one hand Christ died for all ( 2 Cor.5:15) but here the Apostle Paul says that Christ died for “me”.  This is very sweet and personal.  How comforting to realize and declare Christ died for me!  However, Christ just didn’t die for you only.  He died for HER!!! (Eph. 5:25).  In Ephesians 5:25  we see that Christ died for “her”.  Who is she?  The her in that verse refers the church!  So on one hand yes he died for “me”, but his dying was with her in view, that is the church.  This is corporate.  The church is a corporate entity composed of every genuine believer on the planet.  All of us together comprise the “her” in verse 25.  What a revelation!  To take away sin merely is not the goal.  It was the love of God that motivated him to give us his Son that we may not perish but would be regenerated having the eternal life and it was love that motivated him to give himself up for us not just to deal with our sins but for her!  The goal is to gain her!  Wonderful!  Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

We have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous;

2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for those of the whole world.

Have you sinned yet today? It’s not a matter of if but of when.  Don’t worry you have an advocate with the Father! We not only have a wonderful provision for our sins (the blood of Christ) but we have what the bible calls our Advocate.  A wonderful person to plead our case before God.  Here the Advocate is our legal help, attorney, one called to assist us in our affairs.   We have a spiritual Attorney! Jesus Christ the Righteous!  He is pleading our case right now before God.  Even before you sin he is interceding on your behalf according to his redemption to the Father.  Splendid!

The Lamb of God Slain from the Foundation of the World

1 Peter 1:18 Knowing that it was not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, that you were redeemed from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers,

19 But with precious blood, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot, the blood of Christ;

20 Who was foreknown before the foundation of the world but has been manifested in the last of times for your sake,

Revelation 13:8 And all those dwelling on the earth will worship him, every one whose name is not written in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world.

Acts 2:22 Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man shown by God to you to be approved by works of power and wonders and signs, which God did through Him in your midst, even as you yourselves know —

Acts 2:23 This man, delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you, through the hand of lawless men, nailed to cross and killed;

The redemption of Christ was not an accident or a reaction to something that God didn’t plan.  It was according to the awesome determined counsel of God according to Acts 2:22.  When Peter was preaching the gospel to the Jewish people he spoke of this matter very boldly.  In other words,  it wasn’t an accident.  He was delivered up to be crucified by the foreknowledge of God and even in Revelation 13:8 says that he was even slain from the foundation of the world!  How could you be slain from the foundation of the world?  He wasn’t born yet.  We are looking from the viewpoint of time.  God is eternal and quite difficult to fathom.  WOW!  The point is that the Lamb (Christ) was foreknown by God before the foundation of the world and slain for our redemption before the foundation of the world!  Wonderful!  That means before you existed God had determined that Christ would be the Lamb of God with precious blood for our redemption!
