Christ a Light to the Gentiles and the Glory of Israel

Luke 2:30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation,

31 Which You have prepared before the face of all the peoples,

32 A light for revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel.

 

Acts 13:46 And Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly and said, It was necessary for the word of God to be spoken to you first. Since you thrust it away and do not judge yourselves worthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

47 For so the Lord has commanded us, “I have set you as a light of the Gentiles, that you would be for salvation unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

48 And the Gentiles, hearing this, rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

 

 

These are some verses I have been enjoying recently.  The above verses are a quotation from Isaiah 49:6, where Christ is prophesied to be a light for the gentiles and the glory of his people Israel.  Since the jews had rejected Christ as the savior he and the apostles turned to the gentiles that the salvation of God would reach the entire earth!  Awesome!

 

The Son of God is God reaching Us

Hebrews 1:2  Has at the last of these days spoken to us in the Son, whom He appointed Heir of all things, through whom also He made the universe;

3 Who, being the effulgence of His glory and the impress of His substance and upholding and bearing all things by the word of His power, having made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

 

1 John 1:5  And this is the message which we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

 

God is light!  And the Son of God is the effulgence of His glory.  Just as the rays of the sun reach us, so also the Son is also the reaching of God to us.  The Son is God reaching us, to infuse us with God!

 

 

 

The Effulgence of God’s Glory!

Hebrews 1:1 God, having spoken of old in many portions and in many ways to the fathers in the prophets,

2 Has at the last of these days spoken to us in the Son, whom He appointed Heir of all things, through whom also He made the universe;

3 Who, being the effulgence of His glory and the impress of His substance and upholding and bearing all things by the word of His power, having made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

 

Christ is simply awesome! That’s all there is too it.  In the first three verses of Hebrews are a lot of riches concerning Christ.  But I would like to point out one.  That he is the effulgence of God’s glory.  He is the radiance, the shining of God’s glory.  Just like the rays of the sun reach us so Christ is the shining of God’s glory.  You cannot separate the rays from the sun itself.   They are the same.  Christ is God himself and is God reaching us to impart life.

 

What is God?

1 John 4:8 He who does not love has not known God, because God is love.

John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truthfulness.

1 John 1:5 And this is the message which we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

God is a mystery, for sure.  But the Bible, the holy word of God reveals to us what God is.  There are at least three verses that tell us that God “is”. Essentially God is Love.  Most christians and even unbelievers have heard of this.  God is also Spirit.  Which means he is not a physical being.  And last but not least, God is light.  This one is little harder to comprehend (The above verses may end up in coming special editions).  Light is for life.  Without the sun we would all die.  He is the real light!  God is love, God is light, God is Spirit!

 

Don’t love the Darkness

John 3:17-19 For God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  He who believes into Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe has been condemned already, because he has not believed into the name of the only begotten Son of God.  And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were evil.

The Light has come into the world, don’t love the darkness!

 

 

 

 

 

The Light of Life

John 1:4-5 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.  9 This was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.

1 John 1:5  And this is the message which we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

With Eternal life comes the light.  Actually, the life is the light, the true light.  And the light shines!  Enjoy the light!
