Our Crucifixion with Christ

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constrains us because we have judged this, that One died for all, therefore all died;

Christ not only died for our sins, but he also died for us, the sinners.  On one hand yes, he died to take away our sins.  These are likened to crimes that we have committed.  Yet on the other hand Christ died for us the persons, the criminals.  Both are awesome!  Thank you Lord!

The Fellowship of the Holy Spirit

2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit.

Fellowship means a joint participation, mutual participation.  A mutual sharing of something in common.  So what do we have in common?  The Holy Spirit!  We all have become partakers of the Holy Spirit.  This can be likened to the circulation in the blood of the human body.  All the members of your body partake of the “fellowship of the blood”.  They all share the same supply.  And through that supply they all function and are made one.  Marvelous!  Enjoy the Holy Spirit Today!

Christ died for Her

1 Peter 2:24 Who Himself bore up our sins in His body on the tree, in order that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose bruise you were healed.

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

We have all heard of Christ being our savior, our redeemer.  We have all heard that he has died for our sins.  This is all correct of course according to the word of God.  Galatians 2:20 shows us that Christ, the Son of God gave himself up for us!  But it doesn’t say us.  It says “me”.  Specifically “me”.  On the one hand Christ died for all ( 2 Cor.5:15) but here the Apostle Paul says that Christ died for “me”.  This is very sweet and personal.  How comforting to realize and declare Christ died for me!  However, Christ just didn’t die for you only.  He died for HER!!! (Eph. 5:25).  In Ephesians 5:25  we see that Christ died for “her”.  Who is she?  The her in that verse refers the church!  So on one hand yes he died for “me”, but his dying was with her in view, that is the church.  This is corporate.  The church is a corporate entity composed of every genuine believer on the planet.  All of us together comprise the “her” in verse 25.  What a revelation!  To take away sin merely is not the goal.  It was the love of God that motivated him to give us his Son that we may not perish but would be regenerated having the eternal life and it was love that motivated him to give himself up for us not just to deal with our sins but for her!  The goal is to gain her!  Wonderful!  Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

The Indispensability of the Members of the Body of Christ

1 Corinthians 12:14 For the body is not one member but many.

15 If the foot should say, Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body, it is not that because of this it is not of the body.

16 And if the ear should say, Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body, it is not that because of this it is not of the body.

17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were the hearing, where would the smelling be?

18 But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, even as He willed.

19 And if all were one member, where would the body be?

20 But now the members are many, but the body one.

21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you; nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22 But much rather the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.

Each member of the Body is vitally necessary and absolutely indispensable!  May the Lord deal with our Independence  and individualism!

God bless you.  And may God bless all of us to see the revelation of the Body of Christ.

The Church: Not a Lifeless Edifice

Ephesians 1:22 And He subjected all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church,

23 Which is His Body, the fullness of the One who fills all in all.

Colossians 2:19 And not holding the Head, out from whom all the Body, being richly supplied and knit together by means of the joints and sinews, grows with the growth of God.

The church is not an organization but an organism.  And any organism has life has it’s characteristic.  What life does the church have?  The life of God!  The eternal life of God! (John 3:16, 1 John 5:11-12).  The church is not some lifeless edifice that you go to once a week made of bricks and stones.  Furthermore Ephesians, Colossians points out that the church is his Body.  The Body of Christ.  But again, our concept is maybe something that is lifeless, in letters and doctrines.  You may think that the “Body” is merely an assembly of believers.  This is true of course, but not adequate.  It says that the “Church which is His Body”.  The difference between the church and the Body is this.  The church meeting begins and must end at a certain point and everyone goes their separate ways.  The Body of Christ never ends!  Because it is something of life, something organic.  How would you like for your heart to take a break for ten minutes?  How about for your lungs to clock out for lunch for about an hour?  Would that be organic?  There is more to be said…

The Raised and Exalted Jesus

Acts 5:29 But Peter and the apostles answered and said, It is necessary to obey God rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers has raised Jesus, whom you slew by hanging Him on a tree.

31 This One God has exalted to His right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

32 And we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.

God has raised Jesus from the dead!  He is  not in the tomb!  He is alive and well!  Men, even religious men, tried to put him away for good.  Philippians 2:8 says that he humbled himself, becoming obedient unto death and that the death of a cross.  Therefore God highly exalted him!  And now he is at highest place in the universe!

The Christian Meeting part 2

1Corinthians 14:24 But if all prophesy and some unbeliever or unlearned person enters, he is convicted by all, he is examined by all;

25 The secrets of his heart become manifest; and so falling on his face, he will worship God, declaring that indeed God is among you.

26 What then, brothers? Whenever you come together, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.

The Christian meeting is one of mutuality.  The bible never shows that only one man should speak and the rest just listen.  This is not the pattern in the New Testament.  What is revealed in 1 Corinthians 14 is all believers prophesying.  Read 1 Cor. 14:24 which emphasizes the word “all”.  All prophesy, conviction by all, examination by all.  By saying all this includes every believer.  In verse 25 the result  from all prophesying or speaking for the Lord is that others will realize that God is among is!  Furthermore in verse 26 say “each one has”  which is even better.  Each one has something for the building up of the church.  This was the practice of the early church and the teaching of the apostles.  All believers speaking for the Lord.
