Jesus Our High Priest

Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus,

Hebrews 2:17 Hence He should have been made like His brothers in all things that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in the things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

Hebrew 4:14 Having therefore great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast the confession.

Jesus is our wonderful High Priest !  No time to comment…be back later.

Stay tuned for more on the High Priest.

The Son of God is simply awesome

Hebrews 1:1 God, having spoken of old in many portions and in many ways to the fathers in the prophets,

2 Has at the last of these days spoken to us in the Son, whom He appointed Heir of all things, through whom also He made the universe;

8 But of the Son, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

10 And, “You in the beginning, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of Your hands;

11 They will perish, but You remain perpetually; and they all will become old like a garment,

12 And like a mantle You will roll them up; like a garment they will also be changed; but You are the same, and Your years will not fail.”

Wonderful news!  The Son of God is God himself.  The  very universe was made through the Son, and at the beginning of time he laid the foundation of earth and the heavens are the works of his hands all of which will perish except the Son who remains the same!   Simply awesome.

Enjoy the Peace of God

Philipians 4:6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

7 And the peace of God, which surpasses every man’s understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Enjoy the Peace of God!

The Greatest Preposition in the Bible

Ephesians 1:20 Which He caused to operate in Christ in raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavenlies,

21 Far above all rule and authority and power and lordship and every name that is named not only in this age but also in that which is to come;

22 And He subjected all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church,

23 Which is His Body, the fullness of the One who fills all in all.

God caused the awesome four-fold power in raising Jesus from the dead, seating him at his right hand in the heavenlies, far above all rule, and subjecting all things under his feet!  This is the awesomely wonderful, four-fold power.  Resurrection power, transcending power, ascending power, and subjecting power.   In Ephesians 1 the apostle prayed that we would know this power and even that all of this great power is “to the church” !!!!!!  That preposition  “to” means that the church shares in all of the attainments of Christ.  That the we would know experientally this power that is toward us who believe (Eph. 1:19) and to the church (Eph. 1:22).  Other references (Eph.2:6, 1 Pet. 1:3, Rom. 6:4)

See ya!

True worshippers

John  4:23 But an hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truthfulness, for the Father also seeks such to worship Him.

24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truthfulness.

God created us with three parts; with a spirit, soul, and body (1 Thes.5:23).  Every human being on the planet has a human spirit.  Our human spirit is for us to receive God, contain God, enjoy God, worship God!  And in verse 24  is the capital “S” Spirit and the lower case “s” spirit.  Wonderful!  The Father is seeking true worshippers that worship “in spirit” and not in the soul.  These are two different organs within us.  Enjoy the Lord in your spirit!

There is no neutral ground

Galatians 5:16 But I say, Walk by the Spirit and you shall by no means fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these oppose each other that you would not do the things that you desire.

Either we are in the flesh or in the Spirit.  There is no neutral ground according to the Bible.   Where the flesh is there is the sinful nature (Rom. 8:3) and the works of the flesh.  Doesn’t matter if you are a good or bad person.  If you are not in the Spirit, walking by the Spirit, filled with Spirit, and one with the Spirit you are flesh.  And those who are in the flesh cannot please God (Rom. 8:8).

The Early Church: Day to Day and House to House

Acts 5:42 And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and announcing the gospel of Jesus as the Christ.

Acts 2:41 Those then who received his word were baptized, and there were added on that day about three thousand souls.

42 And they continued steadfastly in the teaching and the fellowship of the apostles, in the breaking of bread and the prayers.

46 And day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they partook of theirfood with exultation and simplicity of heart,

The early church continued steadfastly in the apostles teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and the prayers.  This was a DAY TO DAY CHURCH LIFE and not a week to week church life.  Every day and day by day was the norm.  Also they met house to house on a regular basis.  This is the only way we could maintain a day-to-day church life in the homes.  This was normal.  And it should be normal today.  The early believers utilized the homes of the all of the believers to enjoy Christ, break bread, have fellowship, pray and spread the gospel!
