Christ the End of the Law

Galatians 2:19  For I through law have died to law that I might live to God.

Romans 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to everyone who believes.

Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; For with the heart there is believing unto righteousness, and with the mouth there is confession unto salvation.

Thank God for his living word!  I was reading some verses today in Galatians chapter 2 and was very touched with verse 19 in particular.  Which says “For I through law have died to law that I might live to God”.  Paul, the author of the book of Galatians and half of the new testament was a devout jew prior to being a believer in Christ.  And according to jewish tradition was completely zealous for the law, that is the mosaic law (ten commandments) given through moses (John 1:17).  But after his conversion to Christ he testifies something quite mysterious in Galatians 2:19.  The law requires that sinners die according to God’s righteous requirement.  The penalty of sin was death.  So the apostle Paul says “I through law have died to law”.  But the good news is that we don’t have to die anymore because Christ already died for us on the cross!  He died a vicarious death taking upon him all of the sins of the world.  The death of Christ fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law! Please read Romans 8:3-4 for reference.  Therefore Paul says that Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to everyone who believes.  This means that our relationship to the law has been terminated and we are righteous before God by believing into Christ! He is the standard.  Its not a bunch of do’s and don’ts.  How awesome is that.  Although some might say, well, what about the law?  If we go out and kill someone are we still righteous?  Doesn’t the ten commandments say we shouldn’t  kill?  Well, my answer is first Matthew 5:17 where Christ says “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish, but to fulfill”.  Christ did not abolish the law, he fulfilled it when he died for us on the cross.  So Christ is the END of the law UNTO righteousness to everyone who believes.  Unto means resulting in.   This is a loaded topic so there’s more to come.  What good news!  Praise the Lord for Christ!

Who is Christ?

Colossians 2:8-9  Beware that no one carries you off as spoil through his philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ; For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,

Colossians 1:19  For in Him all the fullness was pleased to dwell

Anyone ever wonder who Christ is?  Surely the world is full of inquiring minds. I still ask myself this question, Who is he?  If you’ve ever been to a big city you realize that it takes time to do some sightseeing.  You can’t see everything in one day.  It is the same with the Lord.  We need to go on a sightseeing tour to discover all the aspects of our wonderful Christ!  First he is the embodiment of the Triune God.   That simply means that in his being he embodies God the Father, Son, and Spirit.  God dwells in him bodily.  This refers to his incarnation.  God now dwells within a human being, Christ.  So when you see Christ you see the Triune God.  When you receive Christ you receive the whole Triune God!  Wow.

Christ a Light to the Gentiles and the Glory of Israel

Luke 2:30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation,

31 Which You have prepared before the face of all the peoples,

32 A light for revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel.

Acts 13:46 And Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly and said, It was necessary for the word of God to be spoken to you first. Since you thrust it away and do not judge yourselves worthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

47 For so the Lord has commanded us, “I have set you as a light of the Gentiles, that you would be for salvation unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

48 And the Gentiles, hearing this, rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

These are some verses I have been enjoying recently.  The above verses are a quotation from Isaiah 49:6, where Christ is prophesied to be a light for the gentiles and the glory of his people Israel.  Since the jews had rejected Christ as the savior he and the apostles turned to the gentiles that the salvation of God would reach the entire earth!  Awesome!

Splendid Salvation

1 Peter 1:2 Chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father in the sanctification of the Spirit unto the obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

Ephesians 1:4 Even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blemish before Him in love,

We were chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, and this was unto the obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.   This is the operation of the Divine Trinity to  bring us into his full salvation.  Have you ever realized that your salvation is carried out, applied by the Trinity?  What kind of God do you have?  Well, the bible definitely reveals that God is triune.  Which means that he is one and three at the same time!  Lol! We were selected by the Father, but this selection is carried out, applied by the Spirit coming to sanctify us.  To separate us unto God from everything else.  This result of this sanctifying is that we repent, believe into Christ and his redemption.  This is the obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ God the Son.  So you have all three involved in bringing sinners into his full salvation. Splendid!

Salvation is the Gift of God

Ephesians 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in offenses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God;

9 Not of works that no one should boast.

Salvation is the free gift of God to all of mankind.  I would like to point us three things concerning this salvation according to the above verses.

1.  “By grace you have been saved”

2.  This not of yourselves”

3.  “Not of works that no one should boast”

Salvation is carried out by the awesome grace of God!  We should pray, Lord save me by your grace today.  This salvation is not of ourselves.  We are not the source, origin of our salvation because the source is God himself.  This is something of God!  And lastly this salvation is not of works that no one should boast.  We can’t accumulate a bunch of “good” works that will achieve salvation or win us a free ticket to heaven.  Nope.  It’s not of works!  It is the free gift of God!  Praise Him!

Our Wonderful Savior God

1 Timothy 2:3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of our Savior God,

1 Timothy 4:10 For to this end we labor and strive, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

Titus 3 For we also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving as slaves various lusts and pleasures, spending our lives in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

4 But when the kindness and the love to man of our Savior God appeared,

Marvelous Transformation

Romans 12:2 And do not be fashioned according to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the emind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.

2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all with unveiled face, beholding and reflecting like a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit.

Transformation is part of our organic salvation when we believe into Christ, receive eternal life, and begin to experience this life within us.  What does it do?  It transforms us into the image of Christ from one degree of glory to another degree of glory.  So you don’t have to try to express God in yourself.  A child does not have to exert much effort to try to look, act like their parents.  For this is according to the life they have received.  They are simply born, grow, then spontaneously they express mom and dad, act like mom and dad.  The life that we have received is very active.  It is busy Transforming us day by day!  Whew hew!
